Soooooooo (a couple more “o’s” maybe?) excited to finally be posting on my newly designed blog! Kelly Stahley was so sweet and incredibly fast! She did this for me in like 5 minutes- no joke! So besides for the blog looking a lot cleaner, you’ll probably also notice the pictures are of much better quality too. Chani Shmookler-Deutsch is super talented and pretty much self-taught and generously offered to photograph my outfits. Lucky for me (and Chani), these photos were taken a couple weeks ago when it was a lot warmer because I cannot imagine going outside right now without a million layers! As always, let me know what you think:)
So just kidding guys! I decided that because it’s going to take a little longer than I thought for the new web design to come through, I won’t wait until then to start posting. Although I will wait to show you the outfit posts I did with my fabulous new photographer because….well, I just want to wait ’till my blog is looking more professional before I put those up! 🙂
Anyway, I was in a pinterest haze (aka staring at pinterest for hours until my eyes started to glaze over) and felt inspired by all the sparkly holiday looks going on so I decided to create some party looks of my own. Not that I actually attend parties very often. Right now it’s a Saturday night and I’m wearing cable knit leggings, purple Ugg Slippers, and a big, cozy, sweatshirt while drinking tea and checking out pinterest. Yep, my idea of a fun night out. 🙂 All these looks have flats because I thought that if I were at a party and I actually knew how to dance (I don’t), I’d want to leave with toes still intact although now that I think about this some more, being that the party is hypothetical, I could have rocked some hypothetical hot heels. Oh well, next time, my friends!
Necklace: Thierry Mugler
Dress: Madewell (on sale, but still expensive)
Dress: Madewell (on sale)
Shoes: Madewell (also on sale)
P.S. I am obsessed with the DKNY skirt! Please please please do not let me buy it!!!! Although, I really do kind of need something like that in my closet. Right? Yeah, I thought so.
Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m revamping my blog website and will also have clearer pictures thanks to my new photographer who actually lives around the corner from me! I have tons of cute outfits and manicures to show you but I’m going to wait until the web design comes through. I so appreciate every one of you who reads and follows my blog. Means so much to me! See you all soon! 😉
Oh, and in the meantime, here’s a preview from one of the photo shoots. If you take a closer look, you’ll notice polka dots AND sequins! I couldn’t resist getting that top from J.Crew!
Photo thanks to the talented Chani-Shmookler Deutsch.
A lot of people think that expensive automatically means that it’s better but it’s a huge misconception. Paula Begoun (beauty guru!) and her research team continuously research thousands of products to find out what really works. Nice packaging and a high price tag mean nothing if there are damaging or irritating ingredients in the product…and often, you can find just as good or even superior products at a quarter of the price!
Check out Paula’s website where she has her own line of amazing products as well as reviews of almost every beauty product in existance (http://www.paulaschoice.com/). I literally don’t buy anything before checking beautypedia. Here are some of the drugstore double lists (you can find them on her facebook page here) she has compiled. I hope you find it useful!
Another great drugstore double is instead of Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($22), try Sonia Kashuk Dramatically Defining Long Wearing Gel Eyeliner ($8.99). M.A.C. eyeshadows ($15) come in so many great colors but try NYX eyeshadows ($5.50); they also come in so many different colors and textures. Yes, Lancome Definicils Mascara ($26) is wonderful but L’oreal Voluminous Full Definition Volume Building Mascara ($7.29) is just as wonderful.
Another amazing drugstore double to try is L’oreal Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow ($9.95) instead of Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow ($36)! Also, if you like Dior Skinflash Primer ($42), check out Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Correcting Primer SPF 15 ($10.95). L’oreal Trure Match Concealer ($8.95)is way cheaper and just as good as Lancome Maquicomplet Coverage Concealer ($29.50)
Also, try Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser ($6.59) instead of Laura Mercier Foaming One-Step Cleanser ($35)! Another great face wash to try is Neutrogena One Step Gentle Cleanser ($6.49) instead of Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Foaming Cleanser ($32).
