I have dry hair year round but of course summer time can make my hair even more difficult to manage. From constant exposure to chlorine to the extreme humidity, summer time is rough on my hair and I’m sure a lot of you can relate. Over the years, I’ve learned some tricks to protect my hair during the summer so I thought I’d share my summer hair care tips with you guys today.
1. Before you head to the pool, dampen your hair and apply conditioner. I’ve been using the Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner lately because of how moisturizing and repairing it is on my hair. Dove Intensive Repair works to repair hair and stop 90% of hair damage. It may seem counter intuitive to wash your hair before a swim but by doing so, much less chlorine will be able to be absorbed.
2. After applying Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo like usual in the shower, use the Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner and leave it on for an extra five minutes or as long as you can. I find that letting that conditioner soak in a few extra minutes keeps it feeling softer, smoother and a lot less dry.
3. I know this can be hard, especially during the summer, but try not to wash your hair daily as it strips your hair of its natural oils which leads to more dryness and breakage. Listen, I’m guilty of washing my hair a lot more often during the summer but I really try not to wash it daily because I know its better for my hair.
Let me know if you have any summer hair care tips of your own. I’m always looking for more ways to keep hair damage free and healthy during the summer!
