The other day, I was jogging on the treadmill at the gym while an older woman next to me was telling another woman about her daughter’s weight loss. For 30 minutes, I had to listen to their conversation about Weight Watcher points, how her daughter looked soooo much better now, and how you have to be careful with eating fruit because the sugar will get to you.
I just wanted a peaceful workout but instead I was assaulted with diet, calorie and weight talk the entire time. I happened to have been having a particularly hard day so it was extra unpleasant to hear. I am on the hunt for wireless headphones so hopefully I won’t have to deal with this again. And then I thought about how obsessed these women in their 70’s were and it reminded me that I do NOT want to be 70 and still fighting my body and dieting! A lifetime of body hatred and worrying about the amount of sugar in a banana (dear lord) should not be what’s in the cards for any of us. I want us to be 70, 80, and 90+ thriving and living peacefully. But if we don’t work on our issues now, they won’t just disappear as we get older. And we sure deserve so much more than a lifetime fighting our bodies.

These leggings are great but I find that they don’t stay up as well my other pair during high intensity classes. It may be because I needed to size down in these but since I didn’t, I couldn’t tell you what they’d be like in a different size. Regardless, I like this set but I’ll keep them for strength training and lower intensity classes.
