Stripes on Stripes

IMG_0698I am so excited to finally share a project that I’ve been working on with a great group of bloggers. I collaborated with Minnie + George to style one of their gorgeous handbags for their Spring 2015 lookbook. Lori, the designer behind Minnie + George, creates beautiful leather accessories and bags in Portland, Oregon. Most of her leather is sourced locally and every single one of her creations are timeless and classic. I love her minimalist designs and they are all handmade! For 10 days, from April 27th until May 8th, 10 different bloggers are showcasing how they styled their Minnie + George bag and then the digital lookbook will go live on their website. Tomorrow, the gorgeous and stylish Oby Grace of I Spy Oby will be featuring hers so make sure to visit her blog. IMG_0716This tote is amazing. It’s massive and roomy; just the way I like totes to be! You can use it as an overnight bag or for a day out in the city and it fits EVERYTHING. It’s completely hand stitched and I love the contrasting brown straps against the navy. IMG_0729 IMG_0728Sorry for the massive photo overload but New York has been gorgeous lately and Phil sent me so many photos to choose from! Central Park has been filled with incredible cherry blossoms and Phil and I managed to get photos on the iconic Bow Bridge right before it went under construction.
IMG_0713I love my new Free People skirt. I saw it on sale at Nordstrom (it’s sold out now) and I bought it because… stripes, pockets, the adorable tie detail? Yeah, I needed it! The next day I was in Nordstrom Rack and saw it even more on sale, for almost half the price I paid, and they offered to do a price adjustment when I mentioned it to someone who worked there! I just pulled up my e-mail with my order number and was able to get it for the price at Nordstrom Rack. For some reason, the same skirt on the Free People website is listed cheaper at Lord & Taylor here (Nordstrom price was also the same before the sale). 6PM has it for slightly cheaper in a different color here too. I am confused about the different prices but if you plan on getting it, you can try your local Nordstrom Rack or Lord & Taylor. I decided to style this striped skirt with more stripes because stripes on stripes on stripes is always a good decision… in my opinion anyway. 😉

Striped Maxi Dress

Direct sunlight will be the death of me, you guys!! I spotted this wall on someone’s instagram page and decided I needed to shoot here… but of course when we got there the sun was so harsh which makes for a terrible time to shoot. I was really impressed with Kelly’s photography skills because she still managed to get some great shots. Imagine what she could’ve done with better lighting! 😉

My Dune London sandals…. I’m obsessed. You all need them! I got them at Piperlime’s closing sale but Dune is still selling a similar pair. And I may or may not have worn this striped maxi dress 3 times in the past week. HA! If I go to three different places in three days, it’s new each time. 🙂 Should I be embarrassed that I just put this nice piece of information out there on the internet for everyone to see?? I love a dress with sleeves so a maxi dress with sleeves is my ideal every day dress. I even wore it to work with a cool blazer and wedges. And it’s 50% off now!IMG_0824 IMG_0864 IMG_0827 IMG_0819 IMG_0829 IMG_0838

Purple Shirtdress With Piol

purple shift dressI had a great experience creating a custom-made dress with Piol in the past (and here too) so I was excited to work with them a third time to create a new dress for warmer weather. If you’re unfamiliar with Piol, it’s a website where you can customize the dress of your dreams to your exact measurements in the fabrics, colors, and prints of your choosing and in the style and shape you like. What makes Piol unique is the way they give you fabric colors and print choices based on your skin tone and coloring. My medium brown hair, blue eyes, and light skin tone gave me powder blue, lavender, coral pink and sapphire blue as the shades that work best for me which is nice to know! I chose fit and flare dresses the first two times so I decided to do something different the third time and choose a purple shirtdress. I do have to say that I don’t feel as comfortable in this shirtdress style but I love the stunning purple dot print AND THE POCKETS! 😉

purple druzy necklaceEvery time I open a package from Leslie Francesca jewelry I literally squeal out loud. How cool are her pieces?? This fun round druzy ring (comes in a lot more color choices too) has been worn pretty much every day since I got it. It’s a really easy way to make an outfit interesting and it goes with everything. I also LOVE my druzy teardrop earrings (I wore them in another color here and here), bar necklace, and druzy bracelet. Check out her instagram for more gorgeousness. Leslie can do no wrong!!

Prospect Park With My Sister

IMG_1035I don’t talk much about it, but my baby sister Kayla was really sick when she was born. The doctors predicted nothing but terrible things for her future but my sister proved them wrong. She is a miracle baby and I am so grateful that she is healthy, happy, and thriving. Kayla still has difficulties ahead of her but she is the cutest little thing with the most adorable personality and she brings so much joy into my life.

I have long hours at work so I appreciate every moment I can spend with my family. I took Kayla with me to Prospect Park on a beautiful Sunday morning in our new Famous Footwear shoes. Our walk involved her running after every dog she saw so when you see her finger pointed, I can pretty much guarantee it’s because she’s pointing to another dog she spotted. 🙂 The cherry blossoms have been blooming like crazy lately so it was the perfect time to go to the park.

IMG_0937When I spotted the adorable shoes Kayla is wearing at Famous Footwear, I knew I needed to get them for her. How cute do they look on her little chubby legs? 😉 She’s still a little wobbly when she walks but she walked comfortably in them.

My Nike running sneakers are so insanely comfortable and I am so excited to wear them when I go running this weekend! I like my workout gear to be as bright and colorful as possible so these running sneakers definitely fit the bill well. I am seriously considering getting them in the gorgeous blue color too. I’m not usually a “sneaker wearer” unless I’m at the gym but they are great when you’re running after a one year old in the park. But maybe I can start rocking the athleisure trend more often. 😉

Moto Bucket Bag

aSequinLoveAffair (35 of 53)I’ve been obsessed with this Rebecca Minkoff bucket bag since the day it came out so when there was a 25% off sale, I went ahead and bought it through Lyst. I talked about my discovery of Lyst here, a website that partners with an incredible selection of designers and stores, from Valentino and Burberry to Net-A-Porter and Topshop, so that you have all of fashion in one place. That mean that I’m first to see the latest pieces from the designers I love and also first to find out when the items I’m coveting go on sale! I’m frequently updating my Wish Lyst where you can see the newest products that catch my eye. Buying my bucket bag through Lyst was easy. I already had the moto bucket bag on my Wish Lyst so I knew when it went on sale. Sorry, it’s full price again but if you love it as much as I do, it’s a worthy choice!

The zipper down the middle with the exterior pocket not only looks cool but is really practical and useful. The magnetic closure is great and of course my personal necessity in a bag; the crossbody strap. I’m loving it paired with gorgeous Leslie Francesca jewels.
